During a family discussion about transitioning to a new industry or career, a question came up that made me wonder: Why do people love what they do? Are they passionate about it? Ikaw Why do you love What you do? Tara pag usapan natin Share your thought on this
Hi! I am a psychology student.
I love learning about human behavior as it is how I make myself more empathic. It’s a great way to understand others’ situation. Take for example this one: recently, I was reading a cybercriminology book when I was suddenly struck with a question:
should we empathize with criminals or not?
This question came up when I was reading on theories about what makes a criminal criminal, such as the social bond theory–people who are not much exposed with social interactions are more likely to develop criminal behavior. Also, another theory is the self-control theory, saying that people who have low self-control has a higher tendency to be criminals.
I know this idea can be controversial since a criminal act is a crime but not all crime is immoral. Take for example when someone stole because of hunger. I won’t vouch for criminals, but all I can say is that there might be something that predisposed them to how they act. Maybe some traumatic experiences, abuses during their childhood, or being deprived of something.
Well, all I am trying to say is that it’s fun to learn and explore variations of how did a person ended up the way they do. By trying to use different lenses, you can even explore something you did not expect you can think of. Also, as for the secondary message of my thoughts, it would be great if people would be kind to each other as everyone’s actions can result to a byproduct that, perhaps, would result to someone else’s suffering.
