Week 1 - Check in

Continuing the discussion from KadaKamp Cohort 10: Capstone Check-In Week 1:

If my Koach had one minute with the entire youth of the Philippines, the question I would ask is:

“What is one small act of courage you can commit to today that your future self will thank you for?”

I’d ask this because most young people think change has to be grand. But in my own journey, I’ve realized it’s the quiet choices—like speaking up when it’s uncomfortable, forgiving someone, or saying yes to learning—that truly shape who we become. Courage doesn’t need a stage; sometimes it just needs a single step.

My biggest “aha!” moment in this capstone experience was when I discovered that leadership isn’t about fixing everything but about creating space where others feel brave enough to contribute. I used to think I had to be the one with the answers. Now I see that my role is more like a gardener—planting, watering, and trusting that growth comes in different seasons.

My kubo experience reshaped my idea of leadership and purpose in a way I didn’t expect. Sitting inside that humble space reminded me that real leadership is not built on walls of power but on openness, simplicity, and shared stories. In the kubo, hierarchy melted away; everyone’s voice mattered, and every story carried wisdom. It taught me that purpose is not about reaching the tallest building, but about being deeply rooted—like bamboo, grounded yet flexible, humble yet resilient.
